Football tournament in Hout Bay, Cape TownOn 28 January 2006, the local teams of Hout Bay in Cape Town, South Africa gathered for a friendly competition. Our Country Manager Megan Lloyd went along with a supply of footballs to watch the action.
The director, Chris, told Megan that they have between 250 and 300 players in total, playing in the different teams. He was very pleased with the footballs, although he did mention that real footballs are slightly heavier. Next on their wish list are shin guards and soccer shoes.
The generosity of the people who paid for the balls, helped make the day a great success.
(FFF Note: We know that the footballs are lighter then a proper football and are therefore not ideal for proper football training but we have thought long and hard before deciding on which ball to sell. We decided to sell the lighter size 5 football, because it comes flat packed so can easily be packed by travellers in their luggage to give away in Africa. It can be used as a netball as well as a football and is light enough to be kicked by small children, even with bare feet.)
