MP Anne Keen launches the Fairtrade Fortnight with Footballs For Fun

Local MP Ann Keen met John Mousinho and Ryan Peters, players from Brentford Football Club and Ruth Armitage from the national charity, Footballs For Fun, at the launch of Fairtrade fortnight at the club.

The Fairtrade campaign recognises the important role that consumers play to improve the situation for producers. When consumers choose products with the Fairtrade logo they are buying at prices that are fair to all; farmers and workers are paid a guaranteed price that covers the cost of sustainable production and pays a living wage. It also pays a premium to allow them to develop business, and enjoy social and environmental benefits. The knock-on effects are incredible: producers, farmers and their families have a better way of life as a result, helping to strengthen communities in developing countries.
