Football kit for Peace Lovers Football Club

The Guernsey Rangers kindly donated football kits to Footballs For Fun to distribute in Africa. The players of the Peace Lovers Football Club in Magaliesburg, were very excited to receive it!

Magaliesburg lies close to the Cradle of Humankind just outside Johannesburg. The football club was started by Brightwell Sthone 3 years ago with 5 boys who were very keen to play football. The football club has become so popular now that they train every afternoon, Monday to Friday. Up to 90 children of all ages can be found on the playing field, being put through their paces by their enthusiastic coaches. It was fantastic to see all the children and young adults playing a game, with large crowds coming out to watch and shouting encouragements. The game was followed by a training session, which they all take very seriously.

The original 5 boys are still very active in the football club; some are now coaching younger teams. Others are still playing in the top team, doing extremely well. They compete in the local area association league and have become the Mogale City Champions and second in the metropolitan league, being narrowly beaten in an exciting final.

The players are very ambitious, so if in the future you hear about a player from Magaliesburg playing for an English team, remember that you first read about them here. The new footballs and kits will certainly help them to hone their skills. Thank you Guernsey Rangers and all those people who have donated a football to Africa!
