Charity football tournament at The Clere School huge success!

An amazing £1,432 was raised for Footballs For Fun by The Clere School and Technology College in Burghclere, near Newbury.

The last day of term, fantastic weather and a charity football tournament all combined to create a real buzz around the school. Each student had been asked to raise sponsorship for the event, receiving a beautifully designed certificate in return.

For the World Cup 6-a-side football competition, each team was assigned a country and came dressed in World Cup team colours. At the end of a great morning of football the results where as follows:

Year 7 England

Year 8 Italy

Year 9 Saudi Arabia

Year 10 Argentina – who beat Brazil on penalties!

All that activity makes you thirsty and hungry; Form 7C sold squash, sweets and cakes decorated with World Cup flags, raising even more money for charity.

The event was also attended by the local press who came along to see what all the excitement was about.

The whole day was a great success with medals for the winning football teams. The most coveted prizes were the four South African Football For Fun footballs for those students who raised the most money.

All of us here at Footballs For Fun want to say a very big thank you to all the students and staff at The Clere School for raising such a fantastic sum of money! A special mention must go to Sarah Manning who got in touch with us and has put a lot of hard work into organising the event. Thank you so much!
